Do you want a meaningful job where every day feels like the most important one? Växjö District Court is now looking for one or more court ushers/security guards who wish to contribute to ensuring a well-functioning court environment. You play a central role in the court's daily operations and will play an important part when we move into a completely new court building in November. The work also includes administrative tasks, making every day both varied and meaningful.

Through our work, we support the democratic foundation, and what we do is important – for your and everyone's legal security.

About the role

As a court usher/security guard, you ensure order and safety in the court's premises. You work to create a sense of security for both visitors and staff. This involves a number of important and developmental tasks. The work is autonomous and mobile with significant responsibility. You work closely with our other court ushers/security guards and administrative staff.

Main responsibilities

As a court usher/security guard, you will:

  • Be responsible for order and safety in the court's general areas
  • Staff the security check with X-ray equipment
  • Staff the reception
  • Participate in the court's security and fire protection work
  • Provide good service to employees and visitors
  • Be responsible for alarms, access control systems, and visitor routines
  • Provide technical support in connection with hearings

The role also includes other internal services such as handling daily mail, local supervision, and technical issues, as well as administrative tasks such as handling orders and releasing public documents.

We appreciate if you have an interest and aptitude for administrative work as well. You are also willing to work overtime if necessary when hearings sometimes continue after regular working hours. In the long run, it may become relevant to serve during weekends when the district court has weekend on-call duty.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. To be considered for employment, you must meet high demands regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means you stand up for democratic values and the state values that govern the operations of the Swedish Courts. We require that you follow applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Completed and approved upper secondary education
  • Valid security guard appointment or meets the requirements and is willing to undergo the police's security guard training if you have not already done so. The court will cover the cost of the training if you lack a security guard appointment and get the job with us. (Application for basic training | Swedish Police Authority)
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, in speech and writing
  • Work experience in administration, service and/or security
  • Very good IT skills and basic technical competence
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good color vision (the work with X-rays requires it)

Merits

  • Appointment to serve at security checks
  • Experience from working within the justice system, preferably in a court or another authority that the employer deems relevant
  • Experience from working with IT or technical tasks

About us

With our just over 100 employees, Växjö District Court is considered one of Sweden's larger courts. We share premises with the Administrative Court in Växjö, which has nearly 50 employees. In November 2026, we will move together into a completely new court building with modern and functional premises, advanced technology, and cutting-edge security. At our workplace, there is ongoing work on organizational issues, and we emphasize the importance of active employee participation with a focus on responsibility, engagement, and involvement.

Växjö District Court is divided into four adjudicating divisions in the general court and the land and environment court, respectively. In addition, there is the administrative division that supports the divisions in matters concerning HR, finance, IT, communication, archives, security, and service.

Practical information

The advertisement concerns both fixed-term employment and permanent employment starting with a six-month probation period. Selection is ongoing, and the position may be filled before the last application date.
